In recent years the intermediaries

I insist because, in recent years, the latter - the intermediaries - have been blossoming like rusty tasks on an Italian crate of the 80s. They are renters of vehicles who do not own them, but play on the volume to negotiate favorable rates with the major brands. In other words, you rent via one of these intermediaries and, depending on the destination, the date and the model chosen, you find yourself at Avis, Budget, Hertz, Europcar, National or Alamo, for example. At a price (theoretically) less than what you would have paid had you addressed this giant directly.
How is it possible? It is a question of volume: the best intermediaries guarantee to their supplier a sufficient number of customers so that the latter agrees to reduce its margin. He fined himself there on quantity. That is the best of times. Because in terms of intermediation, it is like everywhere: the worst is the best.
The worst part is when you get on the internet with unbeatable rates; you pay online in advance by credit card and the trouble starts the day you land in the real rental company, other end of the world. A reserved model is unavailable, a lost contract, many supplements to pay, and many better ones. You will be answered with a smile that your contract has not been signed with the final renter and that the latter cannot be held responsible for the defects of the contract. At this little game, some hold the pompon; I will not name a name but just go for a ride on the internet forums to get an idea.
